Project Description
In this project for LIS 60010, I learned about differences in academic library catalog search engine features by comparing their overall functionality and usability. I examined, compared, and analyzed the features, advantages, and disadvantages of the University of Chicago’s online catalog and Oberlin College’s catalog from a user-centered perspective. This project relates to competency 4C in the Core Competences for Librarians because I practiced evaluating the efficacy and usability of information retrieval systems and technologies in an academic library context.
